It's cold and drizzly here in Vancouver today so apart from my expedition down to the library, I've been huddled indoors getting stuck into my studies. And because there is only so much reading you can do on journalism ethics at a time, I have also been attempting to use up more of our humungous load of apples by turning them into chips, so that, in theory, they will last longer.

I did attempt to make them yesterday but unfortunately I had forgotten to turn my brain on first and instead of baking them at 75°F for four hours, I set the oven at  175°C turning them, after only two hours, not into the delicioius chewy snack I had hoped, but blackened bits of stuff in vaguely apple slice shaped pieces.  Surprisingly enough, recipes work much better when you read them properly :P

So a few hours ago, I covered two oven racks in foil, sliced up six or seven tasty apples and dunked them into a mix of lime juice, brown sugar and water, sprinkled on some fleur de sel (Josh's new found love in life) and, having munched on a few to test their readiness, am thoroughly addicted.  Now I don't have to worry about not being able to use all the apples before they go off.  My biggest problem is going to be not eating them all in one sitting.
